Senecorps "Stay in School" Junior Olympics

Athletics have always played a huge role in bringing international communities together in the spirit of camaraderie. Senecorps members will join Senegalese officials to celebrate the nation’s youth as they strive for personal and academic success, rewarding them for their athletic skills, sportsmanship, and scholarship.

Senecorps not only sponsors these games, but “adopts” the participants during the school year. Each team member receives school supplies and their academic progress is monitored by corps officials during the school year. An estimated total of 200 children between the ages of 6 and 18 years old will compete and be sponsored each year.

Corps members, alongside Senegalese sports officials, are responsible for organizing the games and post-game activities. Trophies and ribbons donated by stores in the U.S. are awarded to each participant.

Senecorps hopes that the confidence and teambuilding skills that these games instill will motivate participants to realize the academic and athletic goals they and their families have set.
