Update: The Adult Literacy Center (TALC) has been renamed. The new name will be the Senecorps PEOPLE Center (SPC).

Senecorps PEOPLE Center (SPS) stands for...

Progressive Educational Outreach Projects Leadership & Excellence

SPC is dedicated to providing up-to-date, innovative training programs to enhance the user's knowledge and expertise in Reading, Writing, and Technology. SPC which will initally be housed in Senecorps's Headquarters will empower the community by providing high quality educational opportunities for adult learners to enrich their lives, enhance their professional qualifications, and promote their careers.

The purpose of SPC is accommodate adult learners who cannot enroll in and/or participate in the traditional classroom instruction because of barriers that include, but are not limited to, age, ability to pay high tuitions, conflicting family or work schedules. SPC courses are designed to provide basic and advanced educational services to a currently untapped segment of the population while expanding services already in practice. SPC ’s literacy programs empower learners and their communities by increasing their ability to communicate and share ideas locally and globally using a variety of mediums.

Enrollees will work at their own pace to practice skills introduced in the weekly classes. Skills wiil be reinforced with 45 minute skill-building sessions, software tutorials, textbooks and workbooks, tutors, and study buddies.

Student created e-portfolios will be used to monitor and evaluate each participant's progress.

SPC Literacy Center and Public Library

The Library Section will offers resources to the community to support and encourage the freedom to read, learn, and investigate in an interactive and engaging environment.  We strive to enhance the quality of life in local communities, by encouraging lifelong scholarship and the love of reading.

SPC's Library will also be an excellent place for highschool students and adults to receive help with writing assignments and/or projects.

Tutors will be on-hand to answer quick questions at the Help Desk and in the designated "Round Table Rooms".

lineIf Senecorps is to stay on schedule and complete this project by October 2007, we need your support! Please help us build this invaluable resource!
