ebenefits

Although all teachers are unpaid volunteers, this is an invaluable opportunity to live and work in a peaceful, French speaking country on the coast of West Africa. Although the national language is French, the Ministry of Education has begun a campaign to introduce English Language classes beginning in the Primary Grades. Everyone, from street vendors to national officials, realizes how important a good grasp of the English Language is if the Senegalese are to remain competitive. Serving as a Senecorps English Teacher will allow this poor nation to meet its objectives and empower its citizens with the tools needed to participate in a global economy.

Volunteers will receive the support of their colleagues for lessons plans and teaching curriculum. Some schools desire volunteers to teach evening or weekend courses to faculty members.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals on sabbatical; students in between degrees or just wanting some time off to live, learn, and contribute to a community abroad; retired inviduals; individuals with a sincere desire and the patience to make a difference in the lives of others.
